AWS is down and now I can't boot up my single player game
At the moment there's a global outage of Amazon Web Services, which is disrupting a lot of services online.
In the gaming space, most notably affected are big online games like Fortnite and Roblox. As someone primarily playing single player games, I thought I would be fine.
Unfortunately, Ubisoft decided it was very important that their offline single player game 'Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown' is launched through the Ubisoft Connect launcher. This launcher is unable to connect to the Ubisoft servers at this time, and their offline mode doesn't seem to work either. So it seems it's not possible to boot the game.
It's actually been a while since I've played a videogame from a major publisher, aside from Pentiment and It Takes Two. Guess I'll go back to my indies, who tend to avoid this nonsense!
I'm sure there are more serious consequences to the AWS outage outside of videogames, but I just wanted to air my frustrations anyway. ;)
